Dancers of all ages are invited to join us in the mass dancing of the Opening Ceremonies to promote Scottish country dancing. Sign up as a 4-couple set representing your dance group or come on your own.

Individual dancers will be matched up to form sets (if enough spares) and will dance three short simple dances. This has been very well received and enjoyed by thousands of spectators over the years.

Dances for the Opening Ceremonies are chosen for a basic level dancer and each dance is easily demonstrated on grass.

Parade 12:00 pm. Opening Ceremonies 1:30 pm.

2022: Sept 25 - Oct 02 - 45th Australian Winter School

RSCDS Western Australia Branch invites dancers to join us at Muresk Institute in the Avon Valley, 96km east of Perth. Muresk Institute derives its name from the Dempsters of Muresk in Scotland who settled in this area in the 19th century.

The Institute offers excellent single rooms in recently refurbished accommodation. Dempster House, where all meals are served, is a State Heritage-listed homestead built in 1891. Classes will be held at the Institute or in Northam.

Please join us for a great week of dancing with terrific teachers and musicians.

The town of Northam, seven kilometres away, contains many fine examples of 19th century architecture and is the home of hot air ballooning in Western Australia. In spring, this area on the edge of the West Australian wheat belt is renowned for its wildflowers and birdlife.
