2022: Sept 25 - Oct 02 - 45th Australian Winter School

RSCDS Western Australia Branch invites dancers to join us at Muresk Institute in the Avon Valley, 96km east of Perth. Muresk Institute derives its name from the Dempsters of Muresk in Scotland who settled in this area in the 19th century.

The Institute offers excellent single rooms in recently refurbished accommodation. Dempster House, where all meals are served, is a State Heritage-listed homestead built in 1891. Classes will be held at the Institute or in Northam.

Please join us for a great week of dancing with terrific teachers and musicians.

The town of Northam, seven kilometres away, contains many fine examples of 19th century architecture and is the home of hot air ballooning in Western Australia. In spring, this area on the edge of the West Australian wheat belt is renowned for its wildflowers and birdlife.

Samuele Graziani, from Bologna, is an engineer in the railway sector. He Loves running, skiing, and cycling, but dance is his true passion: he has taught Scottish and historical dances for more than twenty years, specializing in the 19th century. He took his RSCDS Teacher Certificate in 2012; in 2018 he had the pleasure of teaching at St Andrews Summer School. Samuele and his wife live in Bologna, with their son, and daughter... all dancers.

Faye Mather is from Edinburgh. Faye started dancing when she was 6 and never looked back! She moved to Edinburgh for her studies (and of course the dancing!) where she then gained her Teaching Certificate and started sharing her love and enthusiasm for SCD. She is excited to be teaching for the Youth Branch and can't wait to see everyone on the dance floor soon.

Pack your dancing shoes and join us for a nine-day gathering of classes, socials, workshops, excursions and evening events.

Learn, practise, improve, and broaden your dance and music skills. We use a flexible system based on demand. Instead of choosing a class; choose an Interest Group. This way we can focus on what you want from your classes at Summer School. Based on demand for each interest group, we will split the group into the appropriate number of classes.

We especially welcome first-timers, and less experienced dancers. There are classes for all abilities.
