Sunday, May 3 ~ Bluebell Ball, Tokyo

Tokyo Scottish Blue Bell Club invites you to our annual Bluebell Ball.
Toronto dancers will be especially welcome this year. Toronto teacher and devisor, Betty Grant, devised a dance for the Blue Bell club — a square-set jig she named “Chrysanthemum”. The flower has special meaning in Japan. In remembrance of Betty and David Grant’s visit long ago, and an upcoming visit by their daughter, “Chrysanthemum” will be on the 2026 ball programme.
You’ll dance to the amazing music of the Bluebell SCD Trio, with fiddle, flute, recorder, bassoon, and piano.

The Scottish Country Dancers of Hamburg are looking forward to a weekend full of dancing with many guests from near and far, inspiring teachers, and great musicians. The highlight will be a ball including a buffet dinner.

Next winter might be even longer and more difficult than the winter just passed. RSCDS Hawaii has a great suggestion for a midwinter break . . . think of enjoying a delightful workshop with us in a delight, warm place.
We’ll have a great teacher, and the great music of the delightfully named Humuhumunukunukuapua’a & Strathspey Society Band.
- Friday night we have a meet-and-greet event and a social dance.

RSCDS Boston Branch invites you to the woods of Plymouth for Scottish Country Dancing beneath the tall pines. You’ll enjoy dance and music classes during the day, and social dancing every night. We also have parties, charity auctions, and ceilidhs — plus chances to jam or sing together, swim or boat in the beautiful ponds, or relax in the beauty of the woods. Sunday, April 19 ~ First Scottish (Ladies) Step Dance Class with Alma Smith

Scottish Step Dances (previously called Ladies Step Dances) are a ‘balletic” form of Highland dances, typically done by women. Read more about Step dancing here.

Pawling is a bucket-list event for Scottish country dancers. Hosted by RSDCS New York at The Ashokan Center, in the Catskill Mountains. Be inspired by great teachers, wonderful music, and explore forests, and waterfalls.

Marostica, is a town northwest of Venice, Italy.
The weekend celebrates 25 years of the SCOTIA SHORES dance group (which does many kinds of dances) AND 15 years of RSCDS Northern Italy Branch (a subgroup dancing SCD only). Both groups do many events promoting Scottish dance forms, especially Highland & SCD.

May 22-24 ~ Stoney Lake Weekend

Peterborough Scottish Country Dance Society will be hosting the Stoney Lake Weekend on May 22—24, this year. This will be the 39th year for this event!

For those who haven’t attended before, the schedule is well paced: after dancing Friday night there is a get-acquainted time at the resort. Classes are Saturday morning at the pavilion. Afternoon is free time with option of ball dance rehearsal. You will be piped into dinner at Hobarts Restaurant overlooking Stoney Lake. The ball will be at the pavilion, with ceilidh afterwards at Pine Vista (bring your piece!). Sunday morning includes a brief, casual dance time and the weekend concludes with brunch.

Practices for the Ball:
There are two events where you can practice the dances for the Ball:
First, the White Cockade will be held at Delta United Church, 47 Ottawa Street South, Hamilton from 1:00 to 4:00 on March 21. The entrance fee for members is $7 for members and $12 for non-members.
Also, there will be a practice of dances the evening before the Ball, Friday, April 24. It will take place from 7:00 to 9:30 at St. John Church, 195 East 38th Street, Hamilton. Donations to help pay for hall rental will be gratefully accepted. We believe that $5 per person should cover it.
