Teacher Candidate
Course 2022
Toronto Association (TA) Teacher Candidate Course 2022
(Fingers crossed re COVID-19. We need something to look forward to.)
The RSCDS Certification process involves 5 Units. The Syllabus and other important documents can be accessed on the RSCDS website:
https://www.rscds.org/learn/teacher-training/teaching-certificate
Unit 1 (written exam) is offered twice per year. Units 2 and 3 must be passed within 3 years of each other. Teaching Certificate Part 1 will be awarded when passes in Units 1, 2 and 3 have been gained.
To enroll in Unit 5, candidates are required to show their whole Unit 4 Record of Teaching Practice and a copy of the examiner’s written assessment to their Unit 5 tutor. A minimum of 12 months must have elapsed between a candidate gaining Teaching Certificate Part 1 and submitting the Record of Teaching Practice for Unit 4. Therefore Unit 5 candidates are strongly advised to complete their Unit 4 as soon as possible if they haven’t already done so; before September 2020 in any event.
Goal of TA course: to prepare for Units 1+2+3, or Unit 5.
